Hosseini's walls
It is very interesting how Hosseini decides to start the passage with her being blocked by walls. Also how he immediately follows it with Laila's past life and freedom. This part really shows how Laila has been more than just forcibly married to a man she despises but also how much Laila's life has changed. To Laila the Taliban was the destruction of her life because most of her past time activities were that of defiance to the Taliban. It was very uncommon for a girl to go watch sports games and be allowed to be as free as Laila before the Taliban but after it was very dangerous to. Therefore the "walls" that Hosseini describes at the beginning of the passage were not only literal walls but rather barriers and cages that she internally was stuck in because of this new regime in Afghanistan.

I agree with this quote and your analysis because the walls show how Laila has been trapped in this terrible life ever since she married Rasheed
