I find this interesting how Hosseini decided to make Laila, a mother, into a child. He creates this image of Laila as if she were a little kid that was first discovering the world and trying to satisfy her curiosity. If you keep reading you will see that he gives Mariam the mother figure. This is very interesting to me because Mariam cannot have kids like Laila can. I feel the author did this to give Mariam a sense of motherhood. To Laila, Mariam is her new mother and care taker. Which is funny because Laila is the actual mother and Mariam is not.
I like your analysis of this quote, you did a great job of breaking down the quote and analyzing how it specifically uncovers more about the characters and their relationship with each other. You also did a great job explaining how Hosseini is able to do this through the use of imagery.
